Manganese Powder

Manganese is a silvery-gray metal that resembles iron. It is hard and very brittle, produced by electrolytic or atomisation process.

Manganese is a silvery-gray metal that resembles iron. It is hard and very brittle, produced by electrolytic process.

Manganese powder has many uses, including:

  • Steel production: Manganese is used to make steel alloys, such as Ferromanganese, which is a mixture of manganese, carbon, and iron. Manganese removes oxygen and sulfur during the conversion of iron ore into iron. Manganese alloys decrease the brittleness of steel and increase its strength.
  • Powder metallurgy
  • Manganese can be used for alloying powder steels sintered in H/N atmospheres or pure nitrogen.
  • Chemical and ceramic industries: Manganese powder is used in the production of pyrotechnics, grinding wheels, welding rods, and ammunition.
  • Other uses: Manganese powder is used in battery manufacture, colorants, pigments, ferrites, welding fluxes, water treatment, fuel additives, odor control, catalysts, sealants, metal coating, and circuit boards.
